The Tanzania National Business Council (TNBC) is campaigning for support to inventive youths from local members of the business community and investors saying young people who have been supported have proved their worth.
Speaking here at the offices of the Agricom Africa Company, Dr Godwill Wanga, said TNBC would want to see innovative youths --- both men and women --- getting support from investors and the business community as a whole.  He praised Agricom Africa Company for putting the local content philosophy into practice.
“I am here to express our content and praise on how Africom Africa Company has put into practice the local content idea. You have chosen to buy trailers from Igurusi young innovative entrepreneurs instead of importing them. This step has not only created jobs for these young people, but it also strengthens the national economy,” he said.
Dr Wanga called on youths and women to become innovative and daring, saying the government has given the Small Scale Industries Development Organisation (SIDO) 20 billion/- to be given to eligible to inventive entrepreneurs. Dr Wanga said entrepreneurs of this nature “should not worry of capital because the government has set aside this money for enterprising youths and women.”
The local investor and company owner, Ms Angelina Ngalula, renewed her commitment to local content, saying their company had set aside 700 million and that in Igurusi area alone the company needed 300 trailers for power tillers. She said they were buying quality trailers from Igurusi makers at 2.4 million each, explaining that the company was getting admirable trailers at a lower and competitive price compared to prices of imported trailers.
She pledged to continue working closely with host communities in implementing the local content viewpoint.  “We stopped importing trailers after being convinced that this young man who employs fellow  15 youths can do us a good job at a reduced cost of 2.4 million each,” she said.
The maker of trailers, Mr Shukuru Msongole, thanked Agricom Africa company for giving them a tender for making 100 trailers pledging to produce quality products in time. He also said Agricom Africa Company promised to give them seed money to make the trailers with ease.  Mr Msongole also said they would apply for  working capital from SIDO to strengthen their venture.
