Mbeya agro-processors get 5 acres to build 50 industries
By Moses Ferdinand, Mbeya Mbeya Region agro-processors, especially processors of fruits and vegetables, yesterday got a shot in the arm when Mbeya Region authorities handed over to the Tanzania Food Processors Association of Women Entrepreneurs (TAFOPA) five acres that will host a total of 50 micro-, small and medium industries. The handing over ceremony was attended by Mbeya Regional Commissioner Albert Chalamila and the Chairperson of the Tanzania Private Sector Foundation, Ms Angelina Ngalula. The especial industrial reserve area will be used by Kibowavi Project, as association of fruits and vegetable processors, which is supported by a Swiss organization called Helvetas. Mr Chalamila told the function that the region was grateful to Helvetas for setting aside one billion/- to set up industries that would be run by women and youth growers of vegetables and fruits to produce quality products in plants that would be set up. “We have witnessed the usefulness ...
