TADB-supported projects for Uhuru call

Mwanza, Kagera, Mara Reions have picked 3 TADB-supported for Uhuru Torch call that are being implemented  in Missungwi, Nyamagana, Ngara, Tarime and Roya Districts.

 

A press statement on the projects issued here yesterday by the TADB Zonal Manager, Mr Mike Granta,  says  Authur Mgongo Poultry Farm with branches in Missungwi and Nyamagana Districts, Mwanza Region, was picked for Uhuru Torch call because it is touted as state of art modern poultry farm in the two districts and was declared a demonstration farm by Mwanza Region development committee.

 

“TADB has financed construction of the building and cage at a valued cost of 300m/-. Nyamagana District Council is also using this project as an institution for students to get practical training in poultry keeping,” the statement says.

 

Superior quality coffee seedlings are being distributed to coffee growers to replace traditional variety and  improve the eminence of the crop and produce.  A coffee VPU project, the first in Ngara District, Kagera Region,  was picked for the torch call because it is expected to produce one million seedlings annually to enhance growing of Arabica and Robusta coffee  in the region.  TADB has given the project a motorcycle to improve mobility in implementing the project.

The statement says: “TADB  has offered 2.6 bn/- to the coffee industry in Ngara District to boost coffee trade business, purchase and installation of a modern coffee curing plant.”

 

Tarime Aqua Fish Group project was picked for torch call because it has a cage fish farming project with 12 cages (120,000) in Rorya District and Fishpond and fishmeal project in Tarime District, Mara Region. “This is the only fish cage project in the two districts and is being used by TAFIRI as their research and training centre.  TADB has disbursed 432 m/= for cages, cold rooms, boat and working capital for the feed meal plant,” Mr Granta says in that statement.

 

Until last month, overall disbursement  at national level in relation to product value chains alone, TADB has disbursed: aquaculture  --- 1,996,755,840/=, poultry --- 1,428,856,435/=, coffee --- 99,466,324,946.21/=.
